Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center staff with a wide variety of tasks supporting the C.A.R.E. mission. Volunteer duties may include taking part in the daily husbandry of sea turtle patients, educational interpretation, maintenance of the rehabilitation areas, and report preparation. Assigned responsibilities will be based on prior experience, educational background, and physical capabilities.

Must be at least 18 years old to apply.

Stranding Team volunteers will have the opportunity to respond to live stranding events on the Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier and the beaches within Okaloosa County. The Stranding Team volunteers will be tasked with safely retrieving, handling, and transporting stranded sea turtles to the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center. The Stranding Team volunteer position is separate from the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center sea turtle rehabilitation volunteer program.

Must be at least 18 years old to apply.

Requirements:

• Must be able to attend a virtual training session
• Must be able to attend an in-person training session
• Must be able to commit to at least one four-hour shift per week for 6 months
  • 5am-9am or 5pm-9pm
  • March-October
  • Preference will be given to volunteers who can commit to both an AM and a PM shift weekly
• Must be able to respond quickly to stranding calls
